State your opinion as to how these Republicans should vote; Party or Constituents.

In my opinion these Republican represenetives should push for changes to the billeft in order to benefit everyone them included and that if they can't obtain these changes then they should vote as constituents to the people they represent not as a member of a party I also feel that by the description of the reason their in this situation the represnitive's should perhaps push for tax reform within their own state as well and that these deductions are likely nixed as they tend to be more popular in blue states and I'd be willing to bet that if it were democrats doing it it would be the reverse with the drawbacks targetting red states as the party's go at each other's throat's now more than ever further inclining me to belive that you should vote as a constituent for those you represent not your party as a whole. For while the 2 major parties members similar beliefs not all the individual members are in the same situation and should therefore be represented apropriately.

In my opinion these Republicans should vote Constituents as not only do these have reservations about the bill for good reason but it seems to not benefit a majority of people. As mentioned in the article it would be more of a geographical redistribution, where states who already pay a large amount of taxes and the cost of living is very expensive, are going to have to pay more so that a few states could have a few cuts. It does not seem to be a bill that benefits the majority.

The new tax bill helps and hurts different people because of the new deductions added, and loss of previous deductions others rely on. The republicans who county or state does not benifit from the tax deductions should vote agianst it. As someone who represents an area, they should have their area as their top priority, not their party alignment. Even if the republicans did vote for the tax bills, they risk loosing their positions in areas that do not benifit from the new bill. In effect, their already weak legislative powers in congress will be even further hindered. That would be a hard hit to the republican party.

I agree with Terik because it is true that Republicans in certain states are more effected than others depending where they live.

I agree with terrick when he says that by voting in favor of the tax bill republicans will risk their house majority i'm just not so sure that weak legislative powers is quite the right words to use. I don't think the republican party would be politically demolished if they lost their majority I think they will just face more opposition in accomplishing their agenda because of the extra seats gained by the democrats. This means that if the republicans lost they will definitely have to make some compromises in their execution of their policies to appeal to the people they lost.

I agree, different people will be affected in different ways, such as where the decrease in deductions will take place, with many most harmfully effected being blue states. Also the different incomes will be affected as well in good and bad ways with the low income earners of $19,000 having a tax increase of 2% and the earners of $77,000 having a decrease of 3%. So some get hurt by this plan and some get helped.

I feel that the new tax bill is good for some republicans and for others it is not so good, it really depends on where they live or what atmosphere there are surrounded by, I know the environment the republicans live in are effected differently from state to state like in California and New York are more effected and most likely not like the new bill at all. They also claim by getting rid of tac cuts it could save individuals money but it would mean the end or limit popular deductions witch some people love, they also claim that the changes to the deductions will also help with the offbalance off the "the $2 trillion cost of lowering tax rates and doubling the standard deduction."(Burns).

In reponse to the deductions will "offblance the 2 $trilloncost of lowering taxes", I wonder if the new tax brackets and lowever tax percentages for busnisses will actually out weigh deductions lost to help out the everyday person. I agree that it will compensate for the loss, but I wonder if the tax changes will actually do anything useful for the average person...

While it definitely seems to vary in popularity by region, it seems to be the majority of areas are not too approving of the bill. And while it might help the off balance of the cost of lowering tax rates, it is not for certain.

The tax plan will benefit republicans in certain areas at the cost of those in other areas such as those in New Jersey where the people heavily rely on popular deductions thus the new tax plan will have a tremendous and direct impact on the people when those deductions are removed or limited. As a representative I think one should vote against the bill if they know the harm it would cause the people they represent. Also suppose those republicans should choose to vote for the bill they would risk losing their position in the house and with the 2018 elections so close they are risking people voting in favor of the democrats in the districts where the impact will be felt the most weakening their current house majority rule.

I agree with aaron. Though the new tax bill benefits the few, it's detrimental to the many. If certain Republicans who represent those states who are affected by the loss of deductions push for the bill it could cost them their popularity.

After reading the article, I think certain Republicans should vote against the proposed bill and for several reasons. The new House tax bill could undo or sharply limit deductions for states, especially those who will be hit harder than other states. And this could be detrimental to the representatives of those states as it could put the party's majority in Congress in peril, costing Republicans control of the House (which the democratic party would love as they are hoping for this).

I agree that they should not vote in its favor. By costing the Republican party the majority, the interests of the president and the party would be very difficult to carry out. If the people in charge aren't able to see eye to eye, important things may not get done. On the contrary, I think that if the tax bill passes and the seats are offered up, it could provide better insight and force compromise that reflect both parties interests. Compromise should not be at the expense of the people though. The passage of the bill may not be entirely terrible, but it is still pretty terrible and shouldn't go through, because it hurts the people too much.

I agree that the bill is a huge risk to the Republican agenda and that it would be dangerous to pass in its current state however I don't think they should reject the bill alltogether but rather rework it to encompass all those it represents not just most of who it represents

So I took a look at a few graphs regarding the tax plan and it looks as if its helping some people and hurting others. It places the tax income barriers in a more general matter to were those who make $0 to $90,000 dollars a year pay a tax rate of 12% when our current tax platform has it were those who make $0 to $19,000 dollars pay a tax rate of 10% and those who make 19,000 to $77,000 payed a tax rate of 15%. So it hurts some low income families by raising the rate by 2% and its helps other partially low income families by lowering it by 3%. This may be bad for republicans either way. If they vote for it and it passes this risks hurting the support coming from the lower income population especially that 10% with the $19,000 dollar income. Also getting rid of deductions would hurt low income Americans as well (if I'm correct). Then on the other hand if Republicans vote the bill down then all that time spent trying to create a new tax reform bill may be viewed as a waste of time and may delegitimize the belief that Republicans or congress can even get a agreeable view out there. So in all, it could go either way.

I think that the new plan will provide a lot of good, but it will be over time. In its early stages, however, people are going to have to suffer the consequences of having their deductions cut in half, especially business and property owners who's tax rates on their properties are too high to be able to keep up with on their income alone. People in some areas will have to deal with this, while people in other areas that are not as expensive to maintain will not. In 10 years, the new plan is expected to help raise a trillion dollars in federal revenue to help with US debt. Overall, I think that the people should vote constituent. Their representatives know the demographics of their specific area, and will better be able to represent the community. By having the vote be demographically based, we will be able to not only get an accurately backed decision, but will also get to see the bill benefits or hurts each area, providing justification to the final decision.

It being (as both you and I said) a long term project, we'll obviously have to wait a while to see how it plays out. But all in all, isn't the goal to better the nation? Not specifically targeting certain areas, I think we should focus more on the benefit it will have on the entire country after this economic infrastructure change happens to those higher earning areas. But again, I don't know what's going to happen, so I am honestly a little confused/concerned, but we need to pick a side in the end, and it seems for the most part that this would benefit the nation.

I would say that the new tax bill helps but at the same time hurts different people because of all the deductuons. The new tax bill helps and hurts different people because of the deductions that they are taking away. I would say that those Republicans whose state does not benefit from the tax plan should vote against it. Even if the republicans did vote for the tax bills, they risk loosing their positions in areas that do not benifit from the new bill.

I am very divided whether the republicans should vote yes or no. Like Austin said, this tax bills will affect a lot of people in all the states. That is where the Republicans are divided, although this bill may help and benefit a couple of states, it can also hurts others. I believe i am going to side with Angie, because if the party is divided on the situation, and this bill causes a bit more confusion than it should, the Republicans should vote no, and the bill shpuld be revised.

I believe that Republicans should vote in favor of the bill, because while it is bad to some higher income parts of the country, even some who it would harm believe it would be beneficial for the good of the country. I'm not really sure how I feel about it totally though, and I would say we should "test it out" for a little bit, but this is a long term project. So having to go all in or all out, I believe that we should give it a shot, and see how it improves or hurts the financial situation of the country as a whole. Deductions are probably removed because some people probably thought it would be better to pay taxes on someone's whole income, which I don't really see the benefits to, or understand, so maybe this part should be revised.
