I do think that meaningful change will be created because Trump ran on a platform of lobbying reform. Also, now more than ever I think that people are fed up with money influencing politicians to vote against the common good. Outlawing lobbying or at least restricting it up to a certain dollar amount could potentially be a way to "Drain the Swamp" because it would limit the influence that lobbyist have on lawmakers.

Because of the reform the government will be more accountable for their spending by draining the swamps.

I too think that people are fed up with all the money in politics. Another way to get rid of the corruption could be to monitor it more closely and make the information available to the public.

I would agree that money has the ability to corrupt the sway of votes, but I also believe that money has a lot of positives affects that in turn help people. Finding a balance would be the best case scenario.

I do believe that Trump's reform will create meaningful change because he plans to close the loop holes by banning officials and foreign officials, by doing this the reform, it will make the government more accountable .

As far as reducing corruption in Washington, having politicians openly state who is giving them money and having lobbyists also state who they are funding could reduce the influence of money in politics.

Trump will have to make another reform or have something passed by Congress in order to fully get rid of loop holes. This reform alone won't be enough to completely end corruption, but it is a step in the right direction.

As I do agree that it would lessen corruption i do not know how well it would work if you are just banning a bunch of people because you assume they are the problem

I think Trumps reform will bring some change, but I don't think it's enough to completely "Drain the Swamp." It's good that the government is recognizing the issue and addressing it. Though I think in order to bring about more significant change they will have to restrict the dollar amount even more, or get rid of lobbying all together since it seems to be corrupting politics.

I completely agree, I do not get the impression currently that the government is doing enough to limit the ability of corruption through money contributions.

I do think that Trump's executive order will help drain the swamp. But in order to completely drain the swamp it will take time and I think that will effect the re-election cycle of both the Legislative and Executive branch. I am sure this will be a major topic in the elections. I think that we need to clean up the loopholes also and enforce them in order to make any lasting difference but overall I think there will be some good changes in Washington DC with trying to crack down on corruption.

Trump is pretty serious about trying to drain the swamp because some of his top cabinet members like Tillerson and Mattis, have no real political experience, so they are not corrupt in the political sense.

I completely agree that he needs to do something in order to stop the corruption going on in D.C i also see your point that this could become a bigger problem and could cost people their re -election

Is the much evidence of corruption or is just a perception?

I do believe that significant change will come, it may not be perfect at first but something will eventually be worked out. If there were stronger disclosure laws or restrictions on the power of money contributions then that would help in fighting any kind of unfair power granted by money to politicians.

Disclosure laws might be effective as long as they don't contain easily exploitable loopholes. It would be nearly impossible to ensure that there are no weaknesses within the language of the documents, but if that were to happen, it would be very effective.

Trump's orders might help "drain the swamp" however to do so completly he is going to have to stop the corrupt lobbyists and close and stop any loopholes that might still exist. If this is successful then it would be a great thing for D.C in sopping corruption.

It is true that doing so would reduce corruption. However, one has to consider the level of work that it would take to get that done and the decide if it is still a worthy task to accomplish.

I think that Trump's ban could have some significant change, but it would require close attention and follow up on his part. He would have to ensure that he does close the loopholes that were previously around. He needs to understand that he can not effect the serious change he intends quickly. He needs to be patient and work closely with the other legislators if he wishes to succeed. If he is successful, then he could definitely reduce corruption in Washington.
